Mist & Fog 11

“I found out who leaked that photo of you two.”             “Who?”             He turned toward me. “You know a man named Leonard Wiles?”             “Leonard Wiles? Yeah, that’s Senator Cromwell’s right hand man.”             “He was paid a lot of money to give proof that you were having an affair with the senator. When he couldn’t get the proof he needed, he asked one of his female friends to pose. But he forgot that you don’t have any ink work.”             “What happened?”             Broderick smiled. “Let’s say Leonard Wiles won’t be able to find work anywhere in the US. It’s a done deal, babe. Done and sealed. I told you I would take ...

“You’re a new face,” a voice said as I entered the conference room.             The voice was behind me and as I turned around to face who had spoken, I realized I was staring at Lincoln Walker, the man I’d spent last night reading over. From last night’s information, Lincoln Walker attended Stanford, but he never graduated. He left and came back home where he decided to join a band. After that failed, he decided he’d play by Daddy’s rules and go back to school. He enrolled at Columbia and finished his Bachelor degree in Business. After several failed business entrepreneurships, he decided to run his father’s company with him. But after he almost sent them into bankrupt, his father fired him and since then, he’d been working on a record label that was yet to go public. He was tall, towering over me by at least a foot and at least eighty pounds. He was wearing a blue suit and had his hair brushed back neatly. He was staring at...

Mist & Fog 9

I sat in the tub drinking a bottle of beer wondering why I hadn’t heard from Broderick all day. My skin was turning into prunes, but still I sat and wondered why I was sitting here alone. My heart was heavy and I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I was more pissed off than hurt. In my mind, I was running through a cabinet of vile words to say to him should he call. When I heard the phone ring a few moments later, I bolted out of the tub, water dripping onto the floor. I grabbed the receiver on the third ring, a curse word already on my tongue.             “It’s Henry,” the voice on the other end said.             Shit. Good thing that word hadn’t come out when I wanted it to. “Hi Henry. What’s going on?”             “I’m sorry to call you at home. I got your number from Gary. I forgot to give you a folder to...

I tried to sit up, but he pulled me back down. He brushed the strands of my hair away from my face and lowered his lips to mine. The kiss stirred the fires inside of my belly and I felt my toes curl. I responded immediately and my hands pulled the sides of his face down for a deeper kiss. I heard him groan inside my mouth and it drove me crazy. I pushed him down and straddled him, my hair falling over my shoulders. He ran his hands up my shoulders and then down to the curve of my breasts. I bent down and kissed him deeply, feeling his erection, and hearing him groan softly. When I tried to get off, his hands came to rest at my waist.             “No, stay, baby. I want you to make love to me,” he whispered.             My mind ran wild with questions. “I…I’ve never done it this way before. I don’t know how.”          ...

Mist & Fog 7

Rain started falling right after dinner and as Broderick lit more candles, I felt the temperature rise in the room. He had changed into a pair of black sweats and a simple white t-shirt. It was a simple outfit that I’d seen my father wear hundreds of time. But somehow when Broderick wore it, it spelled nothing but sex. His arms were tightly decorated with muscles and his eyes were inviting with such a dark spell that it haunted me. I was still wearing the same clothes I had when we arrived. When he lit the last candle and blew out the match, I caught my breath. He came toward me, the sound of thunder and my heart pounding were the only sounds I could hear. I was a little buzzed from the wine and it felt good because it gave me courage. I slowly reached up and slipped the halter top off my shoulders. I heard him suck in a breath and he stopped moving. A smile spread across my face and I watched as his fingers crawled up to his heart. I walked over to him and grabbed the sides of his...
